Today February 1, 2008 is my 20th anniversary with my employer. I can hardly believe it has been 20 years since I started working for Verizon. I have been through 4 company name changes since I started, New York Telephone, Nynex, Bell Atlantic and now Verizon.

I was going to write a rant about not being appreciated for my 20 years of service, but then I thought what is the point. I cannot expect a large company to even know who I am as an employee, to them I am just a number.

So with that being said, I am wishing myself a happy anniversary and will proceed to buy myself a nice little gift. As far as getting any type of acknowledgment of my service to Verizon this is what I received.

I am not at all bitter as I have had many great times working there and have made many great friends. I am able to put food on the table and a roof over my head all because of this job, but it would be nice to feel some type of appreciation other than a piece of cardboard with a certificate stuck on it.
