Spring has Sprung!

After all the rain that we have had for the past week, Spring is finally making an appearance. Through the construction I am currently doing outside my house this beautiful little bulb popped. Every year without fail it is my first flower to arrive and put a smile on my face! Read more »

When did Christmas decorating become a chore?

When I was a kid as well as not too long ago I used to love decorating for Christmas. I would even go so far as to get my 32′ extension ladder out and hang lights from the eves 3 stories up!!! So when did I start hating doing this? Is it because I turned 40? Is it because I am older and have much more responsibilities? I don’t know exactly what it is but it sure does suck the love of Christmas out of me. I did get out there and decorate including adding an 8′ inflatable snowman and [...] Read more »

Another sad day…

Today is another sad day in my life. I found out that a really close friend and neighbor has passed away. Dennis was a very close friend of mine and will be remembered for many years to come. He could always light up any room with his wit and humor. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone and always liked to learn whatever he could from you. I am so sad to hear about his passing and also that it was so sudden an unexpected. Dennis may you rest in peace my good friend. -Phil Read more »

Happy Thanksgiving to All…

I just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Personally my heart is still heavy from the recent loss of my dog Sassy. Happy Thanksgiving “Dear God, when I have food, help me to remember the hungry; When I have work, help me remember the jobless; When I have a home, help me to remember those who have no home at all; When I am without pain, help me to remember those who suffer; And remembering, help me to destroy my complacency; bestir my compassion, and be concerned enough to help; By word and deed, those who cry out [...] Read more »

R.I.P. – Sassy…

Today is probably one of the worst days in my life. My dog Sassy of 13 years passed away late last night. I don’t just consider her any old dog, she was my friend, my partner, she was someone who would just listen when nobody else would. She could cheer you up just by looking at her. All dogs are unique in one way or another, but Sassy was a true one of a kind. She was protective of my children and guardian of the house. She got along with everyone! She was forced to endure bringing two children into [...] Read more »

Basketball = Fun?

First let me just say that I am not anywhere near a sports fan. I don’t watch sports on tv, I rarely go to any sporting events unless someone gives me tickets and I feel I have to go then. I am more of the geeky type that would rather code php on my laptop then attend a baseball game in Yankee Stadium. Anyway my feelings towards sports has changed a bit since my Daughter has joined the Basketball team at her school. They have only played Two games so far, but I have attended both and all I can [...] Read more »

Magic Eraser – Danger for Children

If you have young children, please do not let them use the Magic Eraser Sponge. My friend over a Kerflop has posted a story about what happened to her young son after wiping his face with one of these sponges. “If I had known that both brands (and others like them) contain a harmful alkaline or “base” chemical (opposite of acid on the pH scale) that can burn your skin, I never would have let my little boy handle them. As you can see from the picture, when the Scotchbrite Easy Eraser was rubbed against his face and chin, he [...] Read more »
