Elevator riddle & contest

My Daughter came home with a riddle today and I thought it was cute enough to deserve a post. See if you can guess the correct answer to it? The first person who posts the correct answer will win a free 125×125 button ad here on my blog for one month. No cheating please, don’t Google it either. Ready? Here it goes… Billy lives on the 20th floor of his apartment building, everyday when he comes home from school he takes the elevator to the 15th floor and then he gets off and walks the next five flights of stairs [...] Read more »

Science & Popcorn

Who would ever have thought that Science and Popcorn could go together? Or they could be so much fun (at least eating the popcorn was fun). My Daughter had to do a science project for school so instead of the usual “potato makes electricity” we decided to do something more fun. How does temperature affect popcorn? We took 3 bags of microwave popcorn and froze one, refrigerated one, and left one out at room temperature for 24 hours. We then microwaved each bag to see how long they took to finish popping and if there was any difference in quality [...] Read more »

Animal lovers unite!

Anyone that knows me will tell you that I am a true animal lover and go out of my way to protect and serve them. I have created several sites that help rescue groups get out the word like my friends at NorCal GSP Rescue who use my GSP Blogs site to list all their available dogs and keep track of their progress. I also created an online directory to list all rescue groups big and small across the nation. Well today I found a new website that actually raises money to sponsor food for hungry animals just by you [...] Read more »

My cookies are gone…

Well, today I went to eat a couple of cookies that I made the other day and to my surprise they were almost all gone!!! Could it be that I have a mouse? Hmmm, it seems like I might have 2 mice namely my children :) I started out with 60 cookies and do admit I had a few, but this is all that is left… I guess it is time to make one more batch until next holiday season. Another Christmas…

Wow it has been exactly one year since I posted what a chore it is to decorate for Christmas. It is funny because today of all days I decided to bring up all the decorations and start the annual ritual of setting up the tree, the village, the trains and whatever else is in those darn rubber maid containers. I don’t really mind doing the actual decorating more than I mind bringing everything up from the basement in the freezing cold… Like I said last year when did this become such a chore? I used to love Christmas and all [...] Read more »

Reflecting back on Sassy…

A year had gone by already since my dog Sassy had passed away. Even though it has been a whole year the memories and feelings have not gone away. I still cried today thinking about her and all the great memories she gave me. Sassy was more than just a dog to me, she was my first child… Here are some pictures to help keep her memory living on. If you are interested in adopting a German Short Haired Pointer just like Sassy please visit my friends at www.norcalgsprescue.com they are a wonderful group that rescues abandoned and sheltered GSP’s. Remembering Gramps…

In Loving Memory George  V. Warnett February 14, 1910 – November 18, 2002 Today is the day my Gramps passed away 5 years ago. I miss him dearly and have fond memories of him throughout my whole life. He was my Grand Father, my Teacher and most of all my Friend! If I could do anything to bring him back I would, I miss him so much and wish that we could be playing a game of Gin Rummy or Parcheesi right now. I know my Gramps was very proud of me and always said I was his 4th son! [...] Read more »

Buy an hour of your time…

I found this on the internet and had to repost it here. There was no author so I can’t give credit. Read the whole post as it is so true now-a-days… A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door. SON : “Daddy, may I ask you a question?” DAD: “Yeah sure, what is it?” SON : “Daddy, how much do you make an hour?” DAD: “That’s none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?” SON : “I just want to know. Please tell [...] Read more »
