There used to be a time when I would have such a spark of enthusiasm when it came to life and things in it. Lately I have noticed that I don’t have the same spark and I would like to know what happened? There was a time that I would look at any new adventure or project and think wow this is so cool and I couldn’t wait to dig in. I would dig in so hard at times that it would encompass me, it would take my entire focus and nothing else around me mattered. I would get energized [...] Read more »
What’s next for the new year?
Of course the new year approaching always brings out posts like this; What to do for the new year? What resolutions to make? Where to start… Many posts also want to reflect on the past year and see what has changed or stayed the same. I for one don’t like to look back but to look forward to see how and what can be improved on in my life. However, I thought I would look back at the last decade since we are moving on to a new decade and see what has changed. I first must say that the [...] Read more »
Learning to say NO!
Just say NO! This is going to be my new mantra in life. I am always willing to say yes to most anything just to keep people happy. Well the time has come to say NO! If i am asked to do something I really don’t want to do then I am going to say NO! If I am asked to take a job that I think is not a good fit for me then I am going to say NO! If I really don’t feel good about doing something then the answer is… NO! I have thought about this [...] Read more »
What’s up with Yahoo Chat Spam?
First let me just say that I am not a big fan of Yahoo instant messaging, but I have it because several friends and clients use it. I personally use AOL Instant Messenger, but I also use Yahoo and Google Talk because of others as well. So for the last couple of days I have been getting chat requests from people that are not my “buddies” this usually is not a big deal because it could be a new client or someone that found me from my blog or Facebook. But these recent chat requests have gone something like this: [...] Read more »
BLOGGERS UNITE – WEDNESDAY 28 JANUARY – CPSIA BLOG-IN
Sorry for getting this out there late, but better late than never! As parents and concerned citizens I’m sure most of us at one time or another have been confronted with the question of lead poisoning. But have you asked yourself what your government is doing to protect your children from lead contained in toys? The answer? They’re banning toys, taking books from schools and libraries, hurting low income families, killing entrepreneurial spirit and risking putting the economy in an even greater depression than we’ve seen in decades. I’d like to introduce you to their solution: the CPSIA. Do you [...] Read more »
Bronx Zoo in need…
Governor Paterson has proposed cuts to the Zoos, Botanical Gardens and Aquariums in NY state. This funding (ZBGA) has been in place for over 30 years and was created to make sure that our zoos, gardens, aquariums all have funding in hard economic times. Now Governor Paterson wants to cut this funding by 55% this year and 100% next year. This is not the time for these cuts, if ever there was a hard economic time it is now! All 76 organizations will be affected by the elimination of the ZBGA funding. Some points of interest: Living Museums cannot fire [...] Read more »

UPDATE 1/26/2009 - Visit: iPetitions.com, savecfcinhalers.org - – - – - – - – - - In case you didn’t know as of December 31, 2008 you can no longer buy any prescription inhalers that use CFCs to eject the medicine. The FDA is also expected to phase out the over the counter (OTC) asthma medicine that uses CFC’s as well. What does this mean? No more rescue inhalers will be sold over the counter like Primatene Mist unless they change their ejection method to not use CFCs. What the heck? CFCs in my inhaler are that much of a [...] Read more »
Tentative Agreement at Verizon
Since last week Verizon workers have been working without a contract, the union and the company have both been at the bargaining table and stopped the clock on the contract expiration date. Well today (Sunday) according to our local website www.cwa1101.org, Verizon and CWA have reached an agreement. If you look back at my post from last weeks deadline you will see that my prediction was pretty close, all except for the 5 year agreement, Verizon only agreed on a 3 year contract. From CWA’s website: Following is a summary of the tentative agreement. Wages a. Effective 8/3/2008 3.25 % [...] Read more »
