No strike yet…

As I suspected there is no strike as of yet against Verizon. If you have followed my blog you know I work for Verizon and our contract expired August 2, 2008. Everyone at work said that we were going on strike and it could be a long one, etc. I was the only one who kept saying that it would seem unlikely that Verizon would want to put us on the street. At the last minute the union and Verizon decided to stay at the bargaining table and continue working towards a new contract. Us employees were told to continue [...] Read more »

Take down the flag… what?!

UPDATE: Please see the response from Verizon Business below this post. Everyone that knows me, knows that I am a big supporter of flying the American Flag. I just could not believe what I was reading when I clicked on this link PutUpTheFlag.org, it seems that a local manager at Verizon Business has decided that the American Flag can be construed as propaganda and offensive to some workers. From the website: Terry Skiest is a Verizon Business technician and a true American hero. As a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, he recently returned from his third tour of [...] Read more »

ASPCA doesn’t respond?

*** UPDATE at 12:40PM *** ASPCA finally showed up. They quickly told me it is not against the law to leave a dog in a car for hours at a time even in 18 degree weather. They looked at the dog and said it is in good health and not mistreated. They also told me NOT to call them again about this as they are very busy! ————– Why is it that I cannot get a response from the ASPCA in regards to a complaint I filed 2 days ago? I reported a complaint via email and then with two [...] Read more »

Strike across the street

ATTENTION: If you are looking for current info on the strike against the Kingsbridge Heights Nursing Home please go to www.fipna.org  ———- As of Wednesday last week the Nursing Home workers across the street from my house went on strike. This strike is not for more money or something silly, but it is for health care benefits. The workers have been working without a contract for several years, but last last year the owner stopped paying all health care benefits for the workers. The union has been paying for the benefits for the last 6 months but cannot continue. The [...] Read more »

Animal lovers unite!

Anyone that knows me will tell you that I am a true animal lover and go out of my way to protect and serve them. I have created several sites that help rescue groups get out the word like my friends at NorCal GSP Rescue who use my GSP Blogs site to list all their available dogs and keep track of their progress. I also created an online directory to list all rescue groups big and small across the nation. Well today I found a new website that actually raises money to sponsor food for hungry animals just by you [...] Read more »
