Photo by: Ricky David First it was J.P. Morgan Chase then it was eBay and now Paypal! When is it going to stop? Do these phishing emails really work? Do people actually click on a link that look like this: http://rolexwatches2.com/images/.www.paypal.com/ If you would consider clicking on a link like that can you tell me why? Why would you think that a domain that starts with http://rolexwatches2.com has anything to do with Paypal? Here is the email I received today and have since forwarded it on to Paypal. FDA possibly killing asthmatics?
UPDATE 1/26/2009 - Visit: iPetitions.com, savecfcinhalers.org - – - – - – - – - - In case you didn’t know as of December 31, 2008 you can no longer buy any prescription inhalers that use CFCs to eject the medicine. The FDA is also expected to phase out the over the counter (OTC) asthma medicine that uses CFC’s as well. What does this mean? No more rescue inhalers will be sold over the counter like Primatene Mist unless they change their ejection method to not use CFCs. What the heck? CFCs in my inhaler are that much of a [...] Read more »
Now eBay Phishing?
Just like the post I made about Bank Phishing, today I received an email supposedly from eBay requesting to change my registration information. Well of course if you read my post from the other day you already know that I am very aware of spoofed emails that are phishing for personal login information. Guess what? This is a spoofed email that appears to be from eBay but in reality it is not. I confirmed with eBay that this is in fact a spoofed email and they are working to disable the site that it is currently installed on. [Click image [...] Read more »
Bank Phishing
Today I received and email from what appeared to be J.P. Morgan Chase which if you don’t know is a very well known bank. The email looked official and actually would lead you to believe that it came from Chase. Have a look at a screenshot of the email (click to enlarge): Looks pretty good except for the fact that there is a couple of spelling mistakes like Complate instead of Complete, and why is the C capitalized anyway? The sentence under “Please Note:” If we do no??? Shouldn’t that be NOT??? Well anyway to make a long story short [...] Read more »
Sunrocket robbed me!
Well it appears that I have no phone service because on Monday Sunrocket an internet phone company decided they no longer want to be in business. See this NY Times article. I had paid a years subscription in February and thought all was fine, I had not heard any news that they were in trouble, I never experienced any real problems with the service. I had their service since February 2006 and was very happy. They offered a whole year of calling using VOIP for $199.00, how can you beat that? Well it looks like they couldn’t offer that plan [...] Read more »
Magic Eraser – Danger for Children
If you have young children, please do not let them use the Magic Eraser Sponge. My friend over a Kerflop has posted a story about what happened to her young son after wiping his face with one of these sponges. “If I had known that both brands (and others like them) contain a harmful alkaline or “base†chemical (opposite of acid on the pH scale) that can burn your skin, I never would have let my little boy handle them. As you can see from the picture, when the Scotchbrite Easy Eraser was rubbed against his face and chin, he [...] Read more »
